There are multiple providers of those adapters. Like others on this thread, I bought a "Mini Displayport to HDMI" adapter and that worked for my external projector and later for a display.
I have provided information below on the Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter that I bought and works well for me, although I'm guessing almost any ($15-$30) MDP to HDMI adapter would do the job. while you're waiting to find out if this problem is software vs. I know this isn't a solution, but it is a workaround if you want to connect to an HDMI display/projector NOW. i think the LG Tv have no suport,our the macbook retina need updates for correction this problem Hello I have a LG tv and i have the same problem,but i tested in a sony TV and works fine.
